Life ”get’s in the way”

I had a lofty goal of releasing the podcast on my birthday last year, i.e. the 19th of December. But life got in the way as it most often do. And as you might have noticed the podcast is still not launched.

I’ve been debating with myself as to how much I would share about my own journey and life here on Like The French. Should I keep it strictly to the interviews and articles about the french lifestyle, food etc. Or should I also include posts about what’s going on in my life, for example what we’re doing to get closer to being able to move to France but maybe also really personal stuff like why I wasn’t able to launch the podcast when I had planned.

As I’m a very open person I figured it would be easier for me if I keep it that way here online as well…

So, this autumn has been quite tough for me. I’m not sure what it’s called in English, but in Sweden we call it ”burnt out”. Meaning that someone has been under a lot of stress – too much stress – under a long period of time. Finally it catches up with the body who then shuts down in some way, shape or form. It’s different for different people.

And you guessed it. That’s what happened to me in December.

It started in September with a new job, new project, a lot of work to be done with a tight deadline and no time to recuperate. And from there it just spiraled downwards until my body said it couldn’t take any more.

I’ve been burnet out once before, about 2 years ago, so I knew the signs and I caught it early this time. But not early enough and I’ve been struggling with no energy, no interest to do much at all, not being able to focus for any long stretches of time and so on. And that’s besides the physical problems I got from this.

Which explains why I wasn’t able to do anything at all for Like The French, and I’m still not sure when I’ll be back to ”full energy mode” again. I feel a whole lot better, which is why I manage to write this blog post. But I don’t want to put pressure on myself and come up with a new deadline. But I’m really hoping it won’t be too long!
